Project Description:
Over a three week period the Allsortz group met on Saturdays for workshops. The workshops were split into two sections, the first two weeks they would make their instruments and the last week they would play with The Drones, a band from London. This was after consultation with the group at their usual meeting time and the group also named the project. The reasoning behind the name came about due to one participant wanting to show other people, including parents that people with autism can show control and the project could be a forum to demonstrate this. The workshops took place in the Reg Driver Visitor Centre in Christchurch Park in Ipswich as it has a large room and small garden attached. It is also a safe surrounding for the participants as well as being easy to access. At the end of the project the young people played all of their wonderful instruments on their own as well as accompanying The Drones.
