Charity Auction
Artwork being sold at the chaity auction
Ipswich Art School hosted an important charity auction on Friday 15th April 2011, to raise money to create a permanent centre of excellence for the arts in Ipswich.
The auction presented a unique collection of art produced by artists associated with Ipswich Art School including, Maggi Hambling CBE, Brian Eno, Colin Moss, Lawrence Self Bernard Reynolds, John Chipperfield, Leonard Squirrell, Stuart Somerville and Peggy Somerville.
Ipswich has a once in a lifetime opportunity to purchase Ipswich Art School and create a leading new arts space. This much loved and unique building has been loaned by Suffolk New College for use as a temporary gallery space. We now need to raise £600,000 to buy the building as a permanent gallery for Ipswich by March 2012.
The auction was a huge success and the sun raised for the charity just exceeded £25,000.
£22,100 auction sales.
£3,500 post auction sales on unsold lots.
£340 catalogue sales.
Key supporters, include Bonham's, Richard Cobbold, Maggi Hambling and Firebrand Creative.
