The Never Ending Mural
Volunteers working on the Mural
The Never Ending Mural is a community led project inspired by the Ipswich Art School Fundraising Appeal and brought to life by artist and curator John D Edwards.
The project, supported by Ipswich Borough Council, began on the Waterfront in June with the help of more than 50 project volunteers. Thousands of visitors to the Ip-art launch weekend and to the Maritime Festival have already seen what a positive impact the mural is making.
Further artwork is to be installed along the Civic Drive and St Matthew's Street underpasses and local businesses are encouraged to get involved. The project has already received support from more than 30 businesses.
Get Involved!
The project is reliant on the support of the community and business partners - with all contributions being recognised within the mural artwork. Locally based organisations including Ipswich Central and the Suffolk Chamber of Commerce have already pledged their support. The media are also supporting the Never Ending Mural including Anglia TV, The Evening Star, and BBC Radio Suffolk.
Commenting on the impact of the Never Ending Mural Suffolk Chamber President Dr Peter Funnell said:
"The mural is an excellent addition to the Ipswich Waterfront. As a community-owned, accessible and dramatic art form it adds colour and impact to the locality and will draw people to the area and the excellent range of services it offers. This is good news for art lovers and local business alike. I look forward to seeing the development of the mural to other parts of Ipswich over the coming months and have no doubt that this exciting initiative will do much to raise awareness of Ipswich as a vibrant regional centre for the arts, enterprise and learning".
