Create your own imaginative quirky sea creature!
Quirky Aquarium
Ipswich Museum
Wednesday 6 until Friday 8 June
Can you tell your squid from your starfish? Come along to Ipswich Museum and find your sea legs in this fun activity where you can create your own watery creature to hang in our quirky aquarium!
In this crafty session children will create their own imaginative quirky sea creature, using a mixture of collage materials, including felt, foam, crepe paper, sequins and googly eyes to take home or ‘swim’ in our giant aquarium.
Exploring the amazing collection of sea creatures in the Natural History gallery will provide inspiration for children. From the inflated porcupine and puffer fish to intricate sea horses, sharks jaws, star fish and sea urchins, there are plenty of unusual creatures to fire the imagination.
With plenty of cutting and sticking, and a handling table with shells and sea creature picture pairs cards, this activity will especially appeal to our younger visitors (2+yrs).
And for older children, you can test your underwater know-how with our mystery objects!
A spokesperson from Colchester and Ipswich Museums said, “Our monthly under 5’s sessions are very popular and this ‘Quirky Aquarium’ gives older siblings an opportunity take part in some of the activities our youngest visitors really enjoy.”
There is no need to book for this activity; you can drop-in anytime between 10am – 12pm and 1pm – 4pm. This event costs £2 per child. These sessions are especially good for younger children, aged between 2 – 10yrs.
