Birds of Prey Event
Friday 17th February
Natural History Museum, Colchester
Come along to see and get up close to some fantastic live birds of prey in the surroundings of the Natural History Museum, Colchester on Friday 17th February.
Hear about the birds lives in the wild and get as close as ever to these fascinating creatures. You will be introduced to a variety of birds, and you can find out more about their natural habitats, what they eat and how they hunt.
While this week is National Nest Box Week, we must also not forget those many species that also live on our shores in other surroundings, and how they live in the wild. You will be amazed to discover how many varieties of birds of prey we have living in this country. We see many species of birds on a daily basis, such as sparrows, blackbirds, robins and crows, but we rarely get to be so close to our native birds of prey, so grab this chance and come along!
A spokesperson at Colchester and Ipswich Museums, says “We have a fantastic variety of wildlife, and this great museum provides us with a chance to bring some of these closer to our visitors. Building on our popular ‘Go Live’ weeks held each summer, by popular demand it is nice to be able to bring live animals closer to the public all year round.”
Birds of Prey shows will be at 12pm, 1.30pm and 3pm. There is no need to book for this event, but the museum does fill up fast, so make sure you are on time for the show you wish to see. These fantastic shows cost just £1.50 per person (ages 2 and under free). Please note that the museum will be cleared at the end of each show, to allow time to prepare for the next one.
This is just one of the many events we have happening their February half-term, please visit www.cimuseums.org.uk/whats-on to find out what other events you will enjoy!
