Live and Loud Amazing Animals

Tue 14 Aug – Fri 17 Aug
Natural History Museum, Colchester

Come along to the Natural History Museum, Colchester from Tuesday 14 August to Friday 17 August for a fantastic chance to get up close to some rather unusual creatures…

‘Go Live’ week at the Natural History Museum invites you to come face to face with furry friends and beastly bugs. From beautiful owls to snapping crocodiles this is a chance to get close to creatures that you might not otherwise get the opportunity to.

Join us on Tuesday 14 August for ‘Fur and Feathers’. You can meet some amazing furry and feathery animals, including meerkats, a sugar glider, hedgehog, chinchilla, cockatoo, macaw and giant rabbit!

Wednesday 15 August brings ‘The Owl Show!’ You can come along and discover more about these beautiful birds and watch as they soar majestically overhead.

On Thursday 16 August take flight with our ‘You don’t see this everyday… show! Come face to face with animals you would seldom see up close – like a wallaby, a large fruit bat and even a crocodile!

Last, but by no means least, for the brave the week ends on Friday 12 August with a ‘Reptiles and Mini-beats’. This is a great opportunity to meet a range of different snakes including a Milksnake, a Cornsnake and even a Royal Python! That’s not all though, as on this day you’ll also be able to meet a chameleon, a tarantula and even a blue tongue lizard.

These events are a great opportunity to find out more about creatures you won’t usually see, so be sure to drop into the Natural History Museum.

The ‘Fur and Feathers Show’ and the ‘Reptiles and Mini-beast Show’ are drop-in sessions, so you can come along anytime between 12pm – 4pm and is just £2 per person and under 2’s are FREE (charging starts at 11.30am).

The ‘Owl Show’ and the ‘You don’t see this every day…show’ have specific sessions where you can enjoy these wonderful animals. Sessions are at 12pm, 1.15pm and 2.30pm. There is no need to book and all events cost £2 per person and under 2s are FREE.
