Britain's top professional cycling teams will battle it out in Colchester once again this summer as the Halfords Tour Series returns to the town on Thursday 7th June. As part of the celebrations Colchester Castle will be opening its doors for just £2 entry per person (under 5yrs free) from 10am to 5pm, on this day only!

Walk through the Castle doors and you will ready to explore 2000 years of history and some of the most important events in British history. Once capital of Roman Britain, Colchester has experienced devastation by Boudica, invasion by the Normans and siege during the English Civil War. Since the 16th century the Castle has been a ruin, a library and a prison for witches. Today it is an award-winning museum featuring hands-on displays to help explain Colchester’s past.

The Halfords Tour Series street-racing event has internationally and nationally renowned cycling stars, taking to our streets for unique, team based racing. There will be even more action-packed racing in 2012 with a round of the Johnson Health Tech Grand Prix Series women's race in Colchester for the first time in addition to the men's race in the town for the third time.

Creating a truly carnival atmosphere across the town centre Castle Park will host a fantastic range of free activities for the whole family from 12 noon to 5pm, so why not come along and make a whole day visit by popping into the Castle!
